He has worked with companies like David Brown and the Railway Industry covering the whole of the UK. Keith took early retirement in 2007. In 2008 Keith and his wife were signposted from Dewsbury Library to the DP-EVH. Keith studied on the MyGuide courses and took the Digital Photography course. Following this our Centre Manager Karen Wilkinson asked Keith to volunteer in her Digital Photography class and he was invited to demonstrate these skills at our Open Day in October 2008.
Keith also volunteered in the Myguide classes for tutor Neil Rhodes. This then led to him becoming a “reader” for a partially sighted learner here at DP-EVH for a full day once a week. Keith’s kindness, dedication and commitment has resulted in this learner being able to study IT Level 1 and 2 and find permitted work, all within a handful of months. This dedication has led to Keith being nominated for an Award at this years Kirklees Learner Awards in May. "It's a win win situation" For Keith coming to the DP-EVH is where he can meet and get to know people, feel useful and still learn new things himself. “It’s a win-win situation, with the luxury of not having to do any exams. Keith’s other interests include being an avid Rugby League fan having been a Dewsbury Rams Supporter since 1975. He enjoys reading and belongs to a Reading Group and he walks everywhere he can. |
