Market Forces

In an effort to raise funds for the DP-EVH our Fund Raising Committee rented a stall on Dewsbury's second-hand market on Friday the 27th November.

They sold various items brought in by students and staff ranging from a signed rugby ball, books and bric a brac, to toys, games, jigsaws and clothes etc.

Although the weather on the day was very cold there was no shortage of volunteers who between them raised the princely sum of £233.00, all proceeds going to the DP-EVH.

The DP-EVH would like to thank everyone involved who played their part setting up and manning the stall.

Profile

Learner Wendy Green

Wendy lives locally in Thornhill and is married with three children. She has a grown up family but is not yet a grandma.

Like many of our students she attends the DP-EVH with the purpose of improving herself through further education. She returned to learning 2 years ago here at the DP-EVH admitting that she had hated school and as a consequence took no exams and is now trying to make up for this.

Wendy has worked locally in various jobs but has always wanted to work with children with special needs. She found out about the DP-EVH through her sister Diane who was already a student here and as the local college could only offer evening classes it seemed a good choice for her.

Wendy’s other interests include darts which she began playing at the age of 17 and presently plays for the Ravenswharfe darts team, and she also enjoys doing cross stitch, which she does for her friends and family and has done so for the last 3 years.
