Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector
Who is this course for?
It is aimed at those who work, or want to work, as teachers, trainers and/or tutors in the Lifelong Learning Sector, and/or Adult or Community education.
What is it?
The PTLLS course provides an introduction for those who wish to train or teach and this qualification provides trainers, facilitators and teachers with the skills needed to support learners. It is also accredited by OCR.
Content:
There are five topics that are covered within the PTLLS course including:
- Understanding your own role, responsibilities and boundaries of your role in relation to teaching.
- Demonstrating session planning skills.
- Understanding the use of different assessment methods and the need for record
keeping.
Duration/Cost:
30 hours of guided study, plus 30 hours private study. Successful candidates will be expected to practice skills in the community for a minimum of 30 hours.
The course is free depending on circumstances.

Continual assessment/course work.
Progression:
Further teaching, Cert Ed etc.
Entry Requirements:
No specific prior teaching qualification is needed but a good standard of English and Maths is required.
Qualification:
OCR award Level 3 in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).
