Volunteers Job Description

Volunteers should have a clear idea of the tasks they are being asked to perform and of the responsibility that goes with these tasks.

Volunteers should know who is designated as having responsibility for their support and supervision.

To ensure fair representation of the needs and interests of volunteers, they will be expected to partake in discussions about their role at regular meetings.

Volunteers will be adequately protected against any risks which may arise from doing voluntary work.

Volunteers will be entitled to reasonable out of pocket travelling expenses.

Volunteers will not be used in place of previously paid workers.

The relationship between the staff, tutors and volunteers should be complementary and mutually beneficial. Tutors and staff should be fully aware of the areas of work undertaken by volunteers and of the responsibilities they have to each other. Volunteering should be a fulfilling experience.

Through good support and supervision, volunteers should develop and expand their knowledge and experience.

Whilst volunteering by definition is unpaid, reliability and good time keeping are essential for both the volunteer and the DP EVH.
