The Disabled People's Electronic Village Hall was developed out of Worklink in 1993 by Steve Farrell of KMC and Bernard Leach of Manchester University, overseen by Liam Hughes. It was modelled on the Women's Electronic Village Hall in Manchester.
In December 1994 the company was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee and registered as a charity. Founder members were:- Jonathan Burke, John Banham, Doreen Ellam, George Button, Lily Anne Garner, Simon Sykes and Gareth Barber.
The first Board was elected in 1994 and was led by Jonathan Burke with John Richardson employed as Co-ordinator and a volunteer administrator.
Until 1997 we were funded by KMC Social Services when we were given an exit grant of £30,000.
Under the management of Steve Papworth, the then Co-ordinator we managed to secure additional funding by franchising with Doncaster College for the RSA courses. Steve, by his hard work, continued to keep the DP EVH funding on a sound course. more about the DP-EVH
